About humanlag

humanlag is a free set of browser tests for the small, measurable parts of being human: how fast you react, how much you can hold in memory, how well you hold your focus when something fights it. The name is the idea. Everyone carries some lag between the world and their response, and these tests put a number on yours.

How the tests measure you

Every test runs entirely in your browser and times your input on the spot. A reaction test starts its clock the instant the screen actually changes, tied to the browser's own paint, and reads your press as it goes down rather than as it comes back up, so the number is about you and not the travel of a key. Most tests average several attempts, and a false start never counts. The aim is a reading that is honest about what it measures, including the part that belongs to your device.

Scores and percentiles

Each test shows where your result lands against everyone else who has played it. Those curves begin as a modeled estimate and are replaced, run by run, with what people really score here, so the percentile grows truer as the site grows. The Method page says, test by test, where each curve starts and how many runs it has measured. The tiers and their labels are meant to be fun, not a verdict: humanlag is for curiosity and comparing yourself with yourself, never a diagnosis or an assessment of any kind.

Who makes humanlag

humanlag is built and operated by Cellarage Ventures LLC. If a number seems wrong, a page misbehaves, or you just want to reach the people behind the site, the Contact page has the details, and the Privacy Policy explains what the site records and why.
